Corrective Care FAQs

1. Can I have BY-DISTANCE Consultations? (Consults by telephone/Skype and email)

Yes. You can undertake consultations by telephone/Skype and email. If possible we always recommend that Corrective Care clients visit the clinic at least once, but we understand that in some cases this is impractical. Alternatively, you can do a combination of both -- have some consultations in the clinic and some by telephone/Skype.

2. How long does Corrective Care take? How many Consultations do I need?

Corrective Care is directed at chronic problems. By their nature it is unrealistic to expect overnight improvement! Every new client should expect a minimum of 4 consultations and we are looking for gradual positive change. Generally the first 3 consultations are spaced at 1 to 3 weeks apart. Further follow-up appointments tend to be spaced at 2 to 4 weeks apart.

3. I like to understand what is going on? Do you explain test results and treatment in detail?

Yes we do. Depending on your need, your consultations include a tutorial element. We have found that the more "teaching-type" information we provide the higher the success rates.

4. Why do you call it Corrective Care?

Because it describes the main purpose of the program -- to correct long-term problems and underlying causes.

5. How do I book? How do I begin Corrective Care Consultations?

Please call our reception on 07 5597 0669 or send us an email at ------- and we will contact you. On booking you will receive your Assessment Questionnaires and all the details you need to get you started. These will be sent by email, and if you don't have email, we can send you paper copies. You will be asked to make an initial payment of $35.00 for the Assessment Questionnaires.

6. What are the Assessment Questionnaires?

Because Corrective Care is looking for underlying causes and dysfunctions, it is important to collect as much relevant information as possible for the Initial Consultation. The Questionnaires comprise:

  • Initial Consultation Questionnaire - your detailed health history, your health concerns at present, details of any recent test results, details of medications, supplements and other products being taken, family health history, information about your diet (now and past), food preferences, eating habits, any concerns about food and lots more
  • Digestion and Detoxification Questionnaire - in-depth assessment of your digestion and detoxification capacity
  • Four Day Food Dairy.

7. Why am I asked to pay $35.00 for my Assessment Questionnaires?

This is an Interpretation and Processing Fee. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that occurs between your Initial Consultation and your Results and Recommendations Consultation. The information that you provide on the Questionnaires is processed and put in to various data bases. This ensures it can be easily accessed for your consultations. It is also analysed for nutritional status, chronic symptom patterns, digestive capacity and much more.

8. Can I receive Health Fund Rebates?

If you hold Extras Cover, Health Fund Rebates are generally applicable for consultations. We advise you to check with your Health Fund as different funds have different requirements. Known exceptions are:

  • HCF and a few of the smaller Health Funds
  • Any consultations By-distance. At this stage Health Funds do not cover telephone/Skype consultations
  • At this stage most Health Funds do not Rebate product costs. There are a few exceptions
  • At this stage most Health Funds do not Rebate the cost of Functional Tests.

9. What are the fees for Corrective Care?

Please call our reception on 07 5597 0669 for details.

10. If I miss my appointment or cancel at late notice, do you charge me a Cancellation Fee?

Yes we do. We know it is unpopular but we apply a Cancellation Fee to help the smooth running of the clinic. We charge a flat rate of $47.00 regardless of the type of consultation missed or cancelled.

11. Why do you offer a FREE 20 MINUTE CONSULTATION before I start any Consultations?

The FREE 20 MINUTE CONSULTATION is available to anyone who wants to find out more before deciding if s/he wishes to book Corrective Care. A FREE 20 MINUTE CONSULTATION can be held over the telephone, or in the clinic.

12. What Tests do you do as part of Corrective Care?

  • In-clinic Naturopathic Assessment
  • Naturopathic Self-Test Kits
  • Live Blood Examination
  • Blood Tests
  • Functional Tests.

For more information see Testing Services.

13. What Tests do you do for chronic Weight Loss problems?

  • Weight Management Assessment (urine test) for Fatty Acids, Energy Metabolites and a range of Hormones
  • Further Functional Tests, if indicated (eg Adrenal/Stress Hormones)
  • Various Blood Tests
  • In-clinic Naturopathic Assessment, if indicated (or Self-Test Kits)
  • Additional Questionnaires.

14. Why do you include chronic difficulties with Weight Loss in Corrective Care?

Because sustained weight loss is about much more than a change of diet. There may be various underlying causes that need addressing and this is why we recommend running a number of tests.

15. My problem is not chronic. I have only had it for a few days? Can you help me?

If you have a cold or a sore throat or a "tummy bug" or other acute-type problem, you may need a Short 30 Minute Consultation only. Please telephone our reception on 07 5597 0669.
